Video Conversion (inc. VHS to DVD) Services
Almost every family has a dusty old video tape of their kids or family, sitting somewhere on the shelf. The tape has been played hundreds of times, the colours are fading, the picture jumps and the sound cuts in and out. Finally one day, the tape jams in the VCR or gets accidentally recorded-over one night and bam! ...so much for family memories lasting forever.
Unfortunately for many families, the record button ends up being the culprit but for others, dust, general overplaying and wear-and-tear ends up slowly degrading & destroying precious family memories - something that cannot be reversed once it's gone. However - there is a cost effective, long-lasting alternative to the video tape, and that's DVD.
Businesses can also take advantage of the benefits offered by DVD technology - training videos, company profiles, even videos of events, conferences and seminars can be converted to DVD. With DVD technology, we can splice your video into chapters, lay a special sound track, enhance the colours, even create an interactive menu! By converting your video tapes to DVD, your footage will not only last forever, but be protected in a quality case against dust & dirt. And because DVD video technology is not erasable, your memories can't be accidentally wiped or recorded over.
Currently, we can convert VHS to DVD as well as MiniDV to DVD. For other formats, we require that you supply the video camera or machine that the tape was recorded on, as we will attempt to convert directly from the device's output.

How much is it?
Basic video conversion starts from $33 per tape (including GST), regardless of duration (return postage is additional). That said, we have heaps of extra options available - including gift wrapping, shipping to alternate addresses, audio volume adjustment, picture-brightness adjustment, effects, music, chaptering, menu creation, disc printing, custom cover design, and plenty more. Can I drop off my tapes?
Currently, we only accept tapes via mail to our secured GPO box in Brisbane City. Since we started offering conversion services in 2002, the postal system has not lost or misplaced any tape sent in to us. For added security, you may wish to register your mail, or use a track & trace system such as Express Post or AAE (Australian Air Express), who can courier to PO boxes. If you want to use the courier option, you can pickup AAE satchels from most post offices and courier your tapes directly to us, from your local post office!
Can you do custom edits?
We sure can! We've had people ask us to convert video files for their iPod / SmartPhone, even compress a video for the internet and host it online so their relatives overseas can watch it. Just let us know what you're after & we'll see what we can do, or check out our Video Editing section.
Can you convert TV-show recordings to DVD?
Unfortunately not; copyright laws prohibit us from doing so.
Can you convert store-bought videos to DVD?
According to current copyright laws (at the time of writing), you are allowed to make one copy for your own backup purposes, if (and only if) you own the original video tape. However, should the video tape employ its own copy protection system (e.g. Macrovision), then our system will physically be unable to make a copy.
