Big Budda Boom recently visited Sydney to film
the 2008 Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade for an independent documentary
which looks at the history of the Mardi Gras parade and gay & lesbian
rights.
Our crew of four (1x boom operator, 2x camera operators [with 1
steadycam unit] & an interviewer) conducted interviews throughout the
day while parade participants set up their floats & 300,000+ parade
onlookers reserved their spot on the grass. At night, the Big Budda Boom
crew joined other media (and over 10,000 parade participants!) on the
parade route as the 150-strong float line-up weaved its way down the 2km
route in Sydney's CBD.
The footage will be edited into a documentary in the coming months. It
will then be proposed to television stations & community / queer cable
channels for on-air viewing and DVD sales. A selection of photographs
(click to enlarge) & a short movie have been provided below...
